About this course
Couples navigating the complexities of a cancer diagnosis face profound emotional and relational challenges that can strain even the most resilient partnerships. Mental health providers play a critical role in addressing the unique psychosocial needs of both the patient and their partner, fostering communication, enhancing coping strategies, and mitigating the psychological burden experienced by caregivers. However, clinical practice in this area requires a nuanced understanding of cancer’s multifaceted impact on intimate relationships, including gender and cultural influences, communication dynamics, and ethical considerations such as confidentiality and role delineation. This training equips mental health professionals with evidence-based frameworks, practical tools, and ethical guidelines to support couples in fostering emotional resilience, improving relationship satisfaction, and navigating the existential and relational disruptions caused by cancer.
